Under the bridge

Belmont

There has been a lot going on since I last posted like Belmont. There has been some people come to our school from Belmont which is a school in Auckland. Some of our students have gone up to Belmont for a massive sports exchange between our two schools. Yesterday was the day where our schools played the sports. I watched the rugby. It seemed that the teams were fairly even, but Our team ended up prevailing by a fair way. Today we are going to find out all the results from here in Te Awamutu and down at Belmont. In my class we are just about to start algebra. I think algebra is pretty hard myself.

Week 5

This week has not been that busy we have only done the usual maths, writing and reading and tech arts. We had our last lesson of science. We basically did a test on what we have learnt in the time we had science this term. We had a game of volley ball against another class. We won it, but we won it. I think that I had played well overall. I scored some points did perfect serves. We also had a game of dodge ball against another class. We got thrashed, but me and my friend dominated their team I got a lot of people. I can’t wait until the grass from the field grows back. But Sherwin Park is doing me just fine. We started to write an informational report about penguins. We had to plan out and then now use that to make a report. We have jump jam later on today which is alright. On Friday it will be my first food tech arts lesson of the year. Food is one of my favourite tech art. It just so much fun messing with different combinations of food

Tech Arts

We are doing science in Tech Arts. We have been learning about the pH scale and acid, bases and neutral. The pH scale only goes up to 14. Acids are zero to six point nine. Bases are seven point one to fourteen. Neutral is right in the middle at seven. We smelled, tasted and felt some weak acids and bases. I am sure there was at least one neutral. We now only have one more Tech arts lesson left. I think that we are going to make some sherbet. All of all of my friends and I can’t wait either. In class we just completed our first reading task of the year. Now I am on my second. We have to write a memoir. A memoir is a story about a past experience. I have nearly finished mine. My memoir is about how I broke my arm. There is now a shine painting on the brick wall at the front of our school.

Start of a New Term

On Monday it was the first day of term two. We did not do much yesterday. We did change the class design of where the tables were placed and our seats. Today we have just been doing the usually. Maths, writing, reading. I actually get to plan out what I want to do right now. I was surprised when she called my name out for the that could plan out my own work. We started to wright a character description about someone. I'm doing mine about a guy called Jimmy Walnut.

Camp

Wellington Camp

Camp was a great experience for me and for every one that went on it. I really had a great time on Monday going to the Upper Hut Pools. Going down the hydro slide made me feel like the world was falling down behind me. What a rush. Tuesday was also a good day for me as well except for the fact that the museum was boring. We went to Te Papa  I saw a lot of awesome things. Like these sets of armor that had huge blades with the sets. They were so shiny like the sun. My favorite activity out of everything we did was snorkeling. Just being able to explore and see the wildlife under the sea. Seeing it in first person view was just epic. There was huge fish swimming through the kelp and seaweed like I was not even there. The wet suit made it so you could stay warm and fuzzy instead of freezing cold.One thing I thought was fascinating was the Carter Observatory See all the planets and finding out how many stars there are in the sky. My brain was hurting after that. Something funny was Parliament seeing everybody argue about stuff I could barely hear what they were saying. I learnt a lot about making apps for android because of our visit to media lab we learnt to make android apps without having to do all this coding by using MIT App Inventor. I really enjoy myself. I learnt a lot of stuff while I was there. We did this film thing I did not really like it. It was funny though. Dinner there was nice we nachos chicken and a lot of other types of food.Back at camp there was a huge jumping mat.It was as big as a giants pillow. Overall camp was a absolutely fantastic experience.

Week 7

Next week is Wellington camp I am excited. I think it is going to be a lot of fun, but I am not looking ford to the bus trip all the way down there because it is such a long way to go. Plus I get car sick in this case bus sick.

I can’t wait to do all the activities planned for the week. A bonus is me and two of my best friends are staying in a cabin together it will be awesome. While we are there we will get to go snorkeling in the ocean. We will also go to a filming set with proper cameras and all that jazz. 

To be honest probably going to sleep most of the way down. I am just going to listen to some beats. I can’t wait.

Tech Arts Sewing

Tech Arts 
This term has been really fun we have been doing sewing (soft materials) I have learnt how to hem which is folding the edge of what you are making and then sewing a straight line across the fabric you have folded over. I have just finished my jersey this weak it looks really funny because I put eyes and ear on the hood. I like it because it is so warm and snugly. I am going to attempt to make a beanie and slippers. It is going to be a whirl of a time

Week 5

Week 5 Wednesday 4 March

We have not done much this week.Today we had our fourth game of soft ball we won 18-6 and we still remain undefeated this year. Yesterday we did a PAT listening test i couldn't stop laughing at some of the stories that were being said.We had swimming sports on Friday I competed in some non champ events.I won the metre freestyle came second in the 25 metre breaststroke I won the running and doggy paddle.We started to write our Student Lead Conferences. so we can have it done so we don't have to worry about them later.We also have jump jam on today soon. 

Week 4

Wednesday 25 February

This week we have still been doing a lot of test still today we did a maths test and a reading test. Our class have been still swimming as much as we can. on Monday we had swimming heats to see who would get in the finals on Friday. I am probably just going to compete in walking race doggy battle and a phew others such as backstroke and freestyle.We still have a lot coming up this week like visual language we have to get that finished by Friday better get moving. I have learnt a lot of things in maths this week though like primes and factors also multiples.

Week 3

Term 1 Week 3 19th February 2015

This week I have learnt a lot of new things and have reminded myself a lot of things as well.

We have still been doing swimming I have got much  better than i have been in the past.Just 

Swimming faster  and not having to slow down because I am tired.

We have started to do all our PAT Test this week. We have also started to crack down on maths i have reminded myself about powers and also prime numbers plus rounding. 

Week 2

This week I have reminded that face value is just the number that is displayed.
We have done a lot of swimming I have got better and i just moved up to the highest group because i was to good for the other group. I have reminded myself about fraction decimal and other stuff in maths from the test we did.
